WOBURN, Mass.--()--Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: TYPE), a leading global provider of text imaging solutions, has announced that its newly enhanced, embedded font solution now ships in the new HP® Color LaserJet® Enterprise CM4540 multifunction printer and the Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5520 printer.
“HP’s CM4540 and CP5520 models ship with the ability to print more languages, out of the box, than any other printers, ever”
In addition to the core fonts that support the HP PCL® and Adobe® PostScript® printing languages, HP’s newest Color LaserJet Enterprise line-up includes Monotype Imaging’s Andale® and WorldType® Collection, a nearly 50,000 character font that provides the ability to print documents in virtually all of the world’s business languages. Also featured are the Calibri® and Cambria® typeface families which are the default fonts of the Microsoft® Office 2007 software suite and the Windows® 7 operating system.
“HP’s newest printers lead the industry in providing embedded font support for a rich variety of printing experiences,” said Doug Shaw, president and chief executive officer of Monotype Imaging. “The adoption of our expanded solution signals a new standard in laser printer fonts.”
“HP’s CM4540 and CP5520 models ship with the ability to print more languages, out of the box, than any other printers, ever,” said Dave McCarthy, vice president and general manager of Monotype Imaging’s Printer Imaging group. “Users have immediate access to uncompromised global printing without requiring additional hardware or software purchases. Now, documents can be printed in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or just about any other written language.”
In support of HP’s ePrint initiative to allow users to print from mobile devices, HP has also licensed a collection of Monotype Imaging’s server-based fonts.
In addition, HP has deployed Monotype Imaging’s global text solution for rendering text on control panel displays. This consists of Monotype Imaging’s UFST® (Universal Font Scaling Technology) subsystem, integrated with the company’s SmartHint™ font technology, which enables high-quality, black-and-white stroke-based character output within a small memory footprint. Characters are able to be displayed with high legibility, in small sizes and low resolutions.
