Customers Would Have Access to Electric Vehicle Network Announced in Houston

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TXU Energy, the retail electric provider for the largest number of Texans, plans to enable its customers to access the eVgo^SM Network, a network of charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) announced today in Houston.

As a retail electric provider, TXU Energy’s participation in the eVgo network will mean its customers can access the full benefits of eVgo’s simple ‘flat fee’ approach for charging their vehicles. Whether it’s at home or through eVgo’s broad network of charging stations, TXU Energy customers would have confidence that they can power their electric vehicle throughout Houston.

The eVgo Network is the nation’s first privately funded, comprehensive electric vehicle “ecosystem” as announced today by NRG Energy in Houston. It includes plans for a network of home and public charging stations throughout the greater Houston area. Public stations would be conveniently located along major freeways, in key shopping and business districts, at popular retailers, and other parking areas. These services would be provided for a flat monthly fee, making EV charging simple, affordable and predictable for a lower cost per mile compared to gasoline.

TXU Energy, an advocate of electric vehicle adoption, recently announced a significant gift of electric vehicle charging infrastructure to help pave the way for electric vehicle adoption in the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth.
