GREENSBURG, Pa.--()--Allegheny Energy (NYSE: AYE) announced today that its annual campaign to benefit United Way eclipsed the $1 million mark for the first time in the company’s history.

The $1 million raised during Allegheny’s 2010 campaign includes both employee donations and contributions from the company’s corporate match program. Other milestones achieved in this year’s campaign included:
- Employee donations exceeded the campaign goal by close to $100,000.

Leadership givers (pledges of $500 or more) increased by close to 20
percent
over last year. - Number of employees contributing and the average percentage of giving also increased.

United Way provides vital services to assist thousands of people throughout the region.
