BEVERLY, Mass.--()--SmartBear Software (SmartBear) today made it easier for QA and development teams to get started and improve their project management and test management practices with the availability of two free, enterprise-class SaaS (software-as-a-service) tools.
This first set of free tools from SmartBear, based on ten years of innovation and a platform that has been in use by thousands of users, are initially being release as public Beta. We believe they will greatly help small development and QA teams that are looking for ways to quickly make an impact on the quality of their software development efforts.
DevPlanner™ offers online, enterprise-class, project management capabilities for Project Managers, Team Leads or ScrumMasters to create a project plan and assign project tasks to their team, track progress, resource availability and analyze team variances. Team members can manage their tasks, log hours worked and time remaining to help predict release production readiness. Rich reports and dashboards include dynamic project plan burn down, plan velocity, resource availability, slipping tasks reports and more to better understand project progress. Teams can also easily import or export Microsoft Project plans.
QAPlanner™ offers online, enterprise-class, test management capabilities for QA Leads, Testers and QA Automation Engineers to plan their test effort, organize and re-use their manual test library, review and execute test runs and graphically analyze test results. Free integration with TestComplete, SmartBear’s automated testing tool, allows teams to schedule automated tests to run unattended and provides analysis across different computers. Sophisticated reports and dashboards showing test case run history by status, by assignee, with detail and more, help guide process improvement for testing teams.
Gottfried Sehringer, Chief Marketing Officer, SmartBear said, “By making these tools available for free, we want to make it really easy for QA and development teams to get started and better organize their projects, tasks and test cases. It is an entirely new way for our user community to more easily gain first-hand experience with our other popular automated software quality tools that are already relied upon by tens of thousands of users.”
Joe Krivickas, CEO, SmartBear, said, “Taking a page out of the principles of Lean software development, SmartBear is delivering a set of valuable free test management and project management tools to immediately help software development and QA teams to improve software quality. With that, we’re taking the administrative burden off of smaller teams that often get slowed down by cumbersome and heavy-weight software suites.”
Additional development management, QA and test management tools
Teams can grow seamlessly to DevComplete and QAComplete (also announced today), which combine project management or test management functionality with requirements management and defect tracking respectively. Additionally, companies that are looking to expand cross-functional collaboration, can easily upgrade to ALMComplete (previously known as SoftwarePlanner) to enable comprehensive application lifecycle management capabilities as all tools are based on a single, Web-based platform.
Availability
DevPlanner and QAPlanner are available immediately for free as public Beta as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for up to 10 users and one project. You can register for your free account at http://smartbear.com/products/free-tools/.
