CFSI’s Innovators Roundtable Meets in Texas to Inspire Big Thinking about the Underbanked Market

Financial services thought leaders visit the nation’s first Mango Store to witness innovation in action

AUSTIN, Texas--()--The Center for Financial Services Innovation commences its semi-annual Innovators Roundtable meeting in Austin, TX. For the first time, the Innovators Roundtable meeting is being held outside Chicago area to give participants a firsthand look at MPOWER Labs’ groundbreaking Mango Store.

“We're excited to welcome such a distinguished roundtable to our store as we define a new standard in retail financial services for the unbanked.”

“The Roundtable meetings provide a unique setting for companies to learn more about the latest trends in serving underbanked consumers, like the Mango model, and engage in in-depth dialogue on what it means to serve these consumers in ways that promote their financial wellbeing,” said Kimberly Gartner, associate director of CFSI. “We hope participants are inspired by the ‘Thinking BIG’ theme and think about what they can do to further develop and distribute products for the financially underserved and what current changes in regulatory environment mean to their companies. CFSI is also pleased to share our own big ideas like the underbanked market industry scan and aspirational principles.”

“CFSI does so much to promote the financial needs of underserved consumers, so we welcome any opportunity to support the organization’s work and share our commitment to product innovation for the underserved by presenting what we’re doing with Mango,” said Mango co-founder Bertrand Sosa. “We're excited to welcome such a distinguished roundtable to our store as we define a new standard in retail financial services for the unbanked.”

In addition to experiencing the Mango model firsthand, the participants will receive a briefing on the latest developments in Washington from CFSI’s Policy Team; look beyond the financial services industry for examples of building scale models for high quality products; engage in a discussion about how to better align the supply of financial products with the needs of the underserved; and hear directly from asset-building innovator Rimmy Malhotra, co-founder and chief investment officer of Gratio Capital.

The Innovators Roundtable provides a forum for industry leaders from across the financial services spectrum to gain access to the tools and connections needed to develop and expand a portfolio of products and services to implement sustainable underbanked solutions.
