NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Essent Healthcare, Inc. announced today that Kimberly A. Lumia, MSN, MBA, has been named president and chief executive officer of Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Lumia has served as chief nursing officer at the 78-bed hospital for the past 18 months and has been acting CEO since the departure of former CEO Charlie Therrien in July.

Lumia joined the administrative team at Sharon Hospital in March 2009 as chief nursing officer. Prior to joining Sharon, Lumia served as the patient care manager of the surgical intensive care unit and nursing care coordinator at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, CT. Lumia began her hospital career at John C. Lincoln Hospital as a staff nurse and team leader of the cardiovascular intensive care unit.

A native of Connecticut, Lumia has a master of business administration and a master of science in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She received her bachelor of science in nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
