PGCB Greenlights Philly's First and Only Casino

PHILADELPHIA--()--The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has granted SugarHouse — Philly’s first and only casino — official authorization to operate slots and table games. The casino will permanently open to the public on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m.

More than 8,000 invited guests got their first gaming experience in Philadelphia this week when SugarHouse Casino held two, six-hour tests as part of its requirements from the PGCB. All proceeds from those tests will be divided equally among the casino’s test partners: the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, Fraternal Order of Police Survivor’s Fund, Greater Philadelphia Traditions Fund, and The Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center. Final contributions are still being calculated.

“SugarHouse is the place to be in Philadelphia, and our doors are open,” said Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino. “Not only do we have the latest games and entertainment, but we have the best people in the business that will give Philly a great experience.”

SugarHouse Casino opens with 40 table games, including blackjack, craps, roulette, mini baccarat, Pai Gow poker, three-card poker and four-card poker tables and 1,600 slot machines. The casino has fun and unique dining options: The Refinery, serving familiar favorites including burgers, chicken baskets, hot dogs and retro floats; Jacks, open 24/7 and offering unique grab-and-go sandwiches and salads; and Lucky Red, mixing signature cocktails and favorite libations.

SugarHouse offers guests great riverfront views, gaming promotions, entertainment and free on-site parking. For more information about SugarHouse Casino, visit www.sugarhousecasino.com.
