AMSTERDAM--()--Megatrend HbbTV and hybrid television have now hit the consumer goods industry. With the capability of directly addressing customers through a new television standard, international enterprises such as Volkswagen AG are looking to explore the potential of a new marketing channel. The new HbbTV showcase can be seen at the IBC (Booth F51 in Hall 10), (http://www.ibc.org) in Amsterdam until 14 September. The IBC is one of the most important European meeting places for decision makers from the European media and entertainment industry.
“Thanks to TV-ID, manufacturers of brand goods now have a formidable option at their finger tips to tailor their TV advertising and, where helpful, to enter into direct dialog with potential customers. We are delighted that Volkswagen is implementing this new viewer and customer dialog option with us.”
In a showcase jointly sponsored by Volkswagen and TEVEO and supported by RTL, visitors can experience at first hand just where the future of TV advertising is leading. While a current ad for a new Volkswagen is running, the viewer can arrange a test drive with his local Volkswagen dealer and can share information on the car with his friends in the Internet. And all this from the comfort of his sofa, with the help of the 'Red Button' on his remote control.
Thanks to this type of dialog marketing, a feature which to date has been the sole preserve of web advertising, Volkswagen is able to establish direct contact to its target groups through the means of television. Viewers can be identified using the TV-ID system developed by TEVEO. Having registered with TV-ID free of charge, users can automatically be identified, and by entering their 4-digit PIN on their remote control they can consent to the transfer of contact details or authorize the purchase of services. Bills are settled directly through the user’s TV-ID account.
Andreas Karanas, Managing Director of TEVEO interactive GmbH: “Thanks to TV-ID, manufacturers of brand goods now have a formidable option at their finger tips to tailor their TV advertising and, where helpful, to enter into direct dialog with potential customers. We are delighted that Volkswagen is implementing this new viewer and customer dialog option with us.”
Jörn Hartig, Head of Integrated Communication Germany at Volkswagen AG: “This facility to extend classic TV adverting into the online world without the hassle of dealing with transfer problems opens up completely new approaches to customer dialog for Volkswagen. With HbbTV and TV-ID we can build on, promote and consolidate the contact with our discerning target groups in such a way that enhances the image of Volkswagen as one of the most innovative makers of cars.”
