DALLAS--()--Flowserve (NYSE: FLS), a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, has received an order with an approximate value of $7.5 million for a flood control pumping project by the Trinity Watershed Management Department of the City of Dallas. The pumps will be the first Flowserve concrete volute pumps sold in the United States specifically for flood control service, although they are used by countries around the world for this purpose.
“We are excited about helping to improve flood control for the city of Dallas and are confident this will be a standard for other flood control projects in the U.S.”
Received from Bar Construction of Dallas, the order includes concrete volute pumps, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and associated equipment, as well as a spare motor and VFD. Each project pump is designed to evacuate storm water at a rate of 28,390 m3/h (125,000 gal/min) from the west Dallas area over the levee and into the Trinity River during heavy rain events. The goal of this project is to improve the flood control system (which includes pump stations) and is the first of seven projects slated for flood control service for the City of Dallas. The order was booked in the third quarter.
“We are very proud to have been awarded this project for Dallas, especially since our corporate headquarters is located in this area,” said Tom Ferguson, president, Flowserve Flow Solutions Group. “We are excited about helping to improve flood control for the city of Dallas and are confident this will be a standard for other flood control projects in the U.S.”
