Former FDIC Chairman William Isaac Offers Insight into Financial Regulation and the Crisis on New Website

Issac’s Book Senseless Panic: How Washington Failed America Examines What Went Wrong with the U.S. Banking System

HOBOKEN, N.J.--()--Former FDIC Chairman William Isaac has established himself as a go-to source of common-sense advice and commentary in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. His new book, Senseless Panic: How Washington Failed America has garnered praise from names as diverse as Paul Volcker, Lawrence Kudlow, Ralph Nader, and Steve Forbes.

“It is a political agency not designed for crisis management or for bank supervision. It was dominated by people from investment banks who see the world through that prism, when what was needed was a non-political approach by people with a deep understanding of prudential supervision and crisis management.”

Now, a new Web site, www.williamisaac.com, has been launched to serve as a clearinghouse for Mr. Isaac’s wide range of published articles, op-eds, and television interviews.

“When you look back at the crisis of 2008, the US Treasury did much to create the atmosphere of panic,” Mr. Isaac said, in an August interview with Australia’s In the Black magazine, posted to the site. He was speaking in advance of his planned appearance before the 2010 CPA Congress in Sydney and Melbourne. “It is a political agency not designed for crisis management or for bank supervision. It was dominated by people from investment banks who see the world through that prism, when what was needed was a non-political approach by people with a deep understanding of prudential supervision and crisis management.”

Mr. Isaac’s frequent articles and interviews serve as a timely window into current financial crisis-related news, with real-world advice on how both political and business leaders can pragmatically deal with the recovery of the U.S. economy. The new website’s archives offer a multi-faceted backgrounder into the numerous approaches to fixing the economy, and how Mr. Isaac’s leadership and voice have shaped that evolving debate.
