WASHINGTON--()--Ur Union of Unemployed today launched “Bite Back,’ a two-minute internet ad that goes after politicians with the ferocity of the shark in the 1975 classic “Jaws.”
“The jobless are the new swing voters”

“We’ve had enough of politicians describing millions of unemployed Americans as lazy, drug-addled hobos who should be drug tested before receiving extended unemployment benefits,” said Rick Sloan, Acting Executive Director of Ur Union of Unemployed, also known as UCubed. “The ad is designed to vividly remind jobless voters exactly who was behind decisions to deny them desperately needed benefits.”
The ‘Bite Back’ ad is the latest in a series of GOTV (Get Out the Vote) messages produced by Ur Union of Unemployed. Previous ads successfully increased unemployed voter turnout in the Pennsylvania and South Carolina primaries.
“The jobless are the new swing voters,” says Sloan. “And contrary to the belief that they will stay home on Election Day, they are waiting patiently, just below the surface, to strike back at their tormentors.”
Ur Union of Unemployed, or UCubed, is a community service project of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) designed to assist the millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans, and to provide them with a structure that allows them to take advantage of their growing numbers.
