RBF Consulting Participates in the Third Annual Orange County Canstruction Competition at South Coast Plaza

IRVINE, Calif.--()--RBF Consulting announced their participation in the third Orange County Canstruction® competition to be held at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa starting on Saturday, September 4, 2010. As one of the fourteen design teams participating in the competition, RBF Consulting is joining the fight against hunger by supporting Orange County families in need through the donation of canned food to the Orange County Food Bank. RBF’s structure of over 9,000 cans is cleverly titled “Be Smart, Drive Away Hunger” to represent RBF Consulting’s Transportation services, focusing on Sustainability, Smart Growth and Smart Transportation Solutions/Smart Streets.

The concept of this competition requires participating firms to design, build and display their structure made entirely of canned food. Each design team is responsible for accumulating their own canned food to be used in their design which must be completed overnight between 10:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. before the opening of the mall. At the conclusion of the competition all of the canned food is donated to the Orange County Food Bank.

RBF Consulting is engineering solutions and to drive away hunger to help Orange County families in need. The Canstruction structure exhibits a to-scale model of a smart-style energy efficient car and green highway using approximately 9,600 cans of food. RBF is driving away hunger with Canstruction, as well as helping to make the world a better place through civil engineering, planning and surveying. Realizing that they CAN find a way be Smart and stop hunger…and provide cleaner air, cleaner stormwater runoff, better transportation systems and more sustainable communities is the connection between RBF and a greener future.

About Canstruction:

Each year, design teams compete by building fantastic giant structures made entirely out of canned food. The resulting structures become an art exhibit for to the public to view in each location where a competition is held. At the end of the exhibitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs. Last year events were held in 160 cities across the country that resulted in millions of pounds of food that fed hundreds of thousands of hungry people in need.
