BELLEVUE, Wash.--()--T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced that the company has been awarded a three-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Under the terms of the agreement, the EPA and its 17,000 employees will have access to a full range of T-Mobile products and services – from the company’s global Wi-Fi calling capabilities and broad selection of government-approved devices to its super-fast HSPA+ mobile broadband network, which now covers nearly 50 metropolitan markets. T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is the most pervasive to offer 4G speeds in the country1.
“Increasingly, our customers need a wireless communications partner who is able to support mobility and high-speed connectivity, both in the office and when employees travel to remote or international destinations”
The first major carrier to offer Wi-Fi calling, T-Mobile helps enterprises, like the EPA, take advantage of this technology to enhance domestic and international coverage, reduce domestic and international minute usage, increase enterprise mobility cost savings, and improve productivity benefits from open Wi-Fi access points across the globe. The company now hosts approximately 40 million Wi-Fi calls per month.
“Increasingly, our customers need a wireless communications partner who is able to support mobility and high-speed connectivity, both in the office and when employees travel to remote or international destinations,” said David Pepe, divisional director, government solutions at T-Mobile USA. “For a governmental agency like the EPA, it is imperative to have the network, the coverage, and level of service and support necessary to communicate and coordinate both everyday business tasks and rescue and cleanup efforts.”
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the EPA also has 10 regional offices and 27 laboratories that can take advantage of T-Mobile’s acclaimed HSPA+ network. In addition to Washington, D.C., other metropolitan areas currently covered by T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network include: Birmingham, Ala.; Bentonville, Ark.; Los Angeles, Ca.; Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven and Stamford, Conn.; Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa, Fla.; Atlanta, Ga.; Honolulu, Hawaii; Indianapolis, Ind.; Wichita, Kan.; Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans, La.; Annapolis, Baltimore, Bethesda, and Chevy Chase, Md.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Rochester, and Syracuse, NY; Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, NC; Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Dayton, Ohio; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.; Portland, Ore.; Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Pa.; Providence, RI; Charleston and Greenville, SC; Memphis, Tenn.; Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Fort Worth, and San Antonio, Texas; Alexandria, McLean and Reston, Va.; Seattle, Wash.; and Milwaukee, Wis. The company is on track to deliver HSPA+ speeds to 100 major metropolitan areas in the U.S. by the end of 2010.
Pepe continued, “With our super-fast HSPA+ network and unique Wi-Fi calling capabilities, our customers can enjoy a better mobile broadband experience in more places today.”
Awarded under the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) schedule in place since May 2002, T-Mobile’s agreement with the EPA officially commenced on June 15, 2010 and will continue through September 20, 2012 unless extended by the mutual written agreement of both parties.
