Memex’s Steve Serrao Named Chairman of IJIS Institute Committee

Former New Jersey State Police Counterterrorism Bureau Chief Selected to Lead Security and Privacy Advisory Committee

STERLING, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Memex, Inc., a SAS company and leading provider of intelligence management, data sharing, data integration, search and analysis solutions, announced today that Steve Serrao, Director of Product Management, Americas Region has been named Chairman of the Security and Privacy Advisory Committee of the IJIS Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting the private and public sectors for improving mission-critical information sharing.

“This is a great honor for me as Memex has been a long-time supporter of the IJIS Institute. The favorable impact of the Institute is felt across the national law enforcement community”

Memex is a premier provider of software and services that enable law enforcement agencies to manage and retrieve intelligence preventing all scales of crime. Its commitment to speed-of-delivery, education, consulting, customer satisfaction and project management has been established to ensure that agencies realize the full potential of its solutions.

“This is a great honor for me as Memex has been a long-time supporter of the IJIS Institute. The favorable impact of the Institute is felt across the national law enforcement community,” Serrao said. “I look forward to contributing much more to the organization’s mission, and collaborating with key government officials and industry experts to examine security and privacy issues with the goal of improving information sharing strategies for preventing crimes and terrorism.”

At Memex, Serrao performs a client-facing role, working with customers and partners to provide high-quality information technology software and consulting services on-site. He fulfills a managerial role that combines high-level consultative skills with hands-on technical delivery.

Prior to joining Memex, Serrao was a Captain in the New Jersey State Police with 25 years of service. Over the years, he developed expertise in information sharing, and the fields of intelligence and investigation.

Memex has placed a great deal of emphasis on information sharing, compatibility and compliance with existing law enforcement systems. Its intelligence platform provides a single-source portal for analyzing RMS (Records Management Systems), CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch), Intelligence, SAR (Suspicious Activity Reporting), open source and other data sources – whether via data integration, federated access, or a hybrid approach. This compatibility empowers intelligence officers and staff with the capability to seamlessly examine all the data in one place, using the same data mining tools and user interface, rather than having to log on and off different systems.
