Lumenergi Lands Four More Government Building Retrofit Projects

Lighting Control Systems and Smooth Dimming Ballasts to Be Installed in New Hampshire and Nevada Public Buildings

NEWARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lumenergi Inc., the leading provider of energy-efficient, networked lighting systems, today announced projects to retrofit four government buildings. The retrofits are part of the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) commitment to reduce energy consumption, cut costs and improve occupant comfort in all government-owned buildings.

“Lumenergi’s intelligent lighting system provides unmatched levels of energy savings and user control. As our customer base continues to grow, we look forward to helping more government buildings dramatically reduce energy consumption and spend fewer taxpayer dollars.”

Two of the buildings, the James C. Cleveland Federal Building and the Warren B. Rudman U.S. Courthouse, located in Concord, New Hampshire, mark Lumenergi’s expansion into the energy intensive Northeast. The company continues to establish its footprint in the Western region with two projects in Nevada—the Bruce R. Thompson U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building in Reno, and the Carson City Federal Building in Carson City. All installations are currently underway and will be completed by the end of 2010. These projects follow retrofits in California and Texas where Lumenergi was chosen to provide smart lighting technology for some of the largest federal buildings in the Western United States. GSA manages more than 11 percent of the government’s total procurement dollars and $30 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings.

“Federal and state governments are the leading proponents of energy-efficiency and one of the most progressive authorities in evaluating advanced lighting solutions,” said Michael D’Amour, CEO of Lumenergi. “Lumenergi’s intelligent lighting system provides unmatched levels of energy savings and user control. As our customer base continues to grow, we look forward to helping more government buildings dramatically reduce energy consumption and spend fewer taxpayer dollars.”

Lighting comprises approximately 34 to 40 percent of annual energy consumption in office buildings. Lumenergi’s cost-effective system has positioned the company as the de facto provider in large energy-efficient lighting retrofits.

Lumenergi’s success in securing government projects can be attributed to the following key features and benefits, setting the standard for public building energy savings:

  1.

Granular control and smooth dimming capabilities: Lumenergi enables building managers and occupants to control lights at the individual fixture level, allowing the right amount of light to be used for every application and in every environment.

2.

Two-way communication: Each light in Lumenergi’s network communicates directly with the central control system, monitoring energy consumption levels and alerting when maintenance is needed. This real-time reporting provides additional savings by greatly reducing maintenance and operating costs.

3.

Supports open standards: By supporting DALI, BACnet, Ethernet and 0-10V standards, Lumenergi customers are not locked into a fixed technology and are able to choose the best-of-breed solutions as building technologies continue to evolve.

4.

Easy Integration with Building Management Systems (BMS): Lumenergi controls integrate smoothly into most building management systems with open-protocol BACnet.
