APEX, N.C.--()--FeatureTel, North Carolina’s first hosted VoIP business telephone service company, was a partner sponsor of the Local Tech Wire event that brought NBA team owner and dot-com billionaire Mark Cuban to Durham, N.C. last week. FeatureTel Founder and CEO Paul Levering introduced Cuban prior to his keynote speech.
“It was such a great experience from start to finish”
“It was such a great experience from start to finish,” Levering said. “It’s not often you get to sit at the table with a VIP like Cuban and engage one-on-one about your business and the evolution of the technology industry. We share many of the same ideas about work ethic and how to build a successful business. Everyone who considers such a venture needs to understand how much ‘sweat equity’ and hard work it requires.”
The event included a VIP Breakfast, attended by FeatureTel, followed by an exclusive networking event, and finally a panel discussion and lunch, after which Cuban delivered his keynote address. During his speech Cuban imparted his rules for business, which included: Kick your own [butt] before someone else does; The best equity is sweat equity; and You don’t own your customers (they own you).
“A lot of what Mark had to say is as true in life in general as it is in business,” Levering said. “It was good to hear it from such a successful entrepreneur. At FeatureTel, we can relate to what Mark had to say. We were the first Hosted VoIP provider in the Triangle and proved the technology. Today, our differentiator is our ability to guarantee call quality by using local private connections.”
