Tech Data Opens Cisco Unified Computing System B- And C-Series Data Center

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ:TECD)today announced that resellers now have access to the new Cisco Unified Computing System data center in its 6,000-square-foot technology solutions center. The facility - a first of its kind in the channel - is the latest addition to the Cisco Solutions Center at Tech Data, and will enable Cisco resellers to familiarize their sales and technical teams, as well as their customers with the Cisco Unified Computing System^™ B- and C-Series Server technology.

Tech Data dedicated additional space and installed more than $1 million worth of new equipment in the Cisco Solutions Center at Tech Data, including eight Cisco UCS B-Series blade servers, two Cisco UCS C-Series rack-mount servers, two Cisco Nexus^® 7000 switches, two Cisco Nexus 5000 switches, two Cisco MDS 9134 fibre channel switches, a Cisco MDS 9222i fibre channel switch, and two Cisco UCS 6120 fabric interconnects. In addition, the Cisco UCS data center includes the EMC CLARiiON storage system, VMware vSphere^™ and VMware View^™ virtualization platforms, and APC power and cooling solutions to demonstrate a fully optimized data center environment.

Cisco Solutions On Display

The 900-square-foot Cisco Solutions Center at Tech Data now features more than $2 million worth of IT equipment. In addition to the new Cisco Unified Computing System data center, all Cisco solutions available through the channel are represented in the facility. That includes Cisco’s traditional switching and routing technology, indoor and outdoor wireless, unified communications, network security, digital media and video surveillance. Cisco Solutions Center at Tech Data trainings are a free service available to all Tech Data customers. The center also is fully equipped to support remote, expert-led solutions demonstrations for resellers to train their Cisco sales and technical professionals, as well as to introduce Cisco solutions to their customers.
