NAPA, Calif.--()--Whether you’re a CEO looking for a memorable retreat for your management team or a wine aficionado wanting to get Cabernet-stained fingers this harvest, you can really get to know what goes on behind the scenes in the world of Napa Valley winemaking at MicroCrush at Judd’s Hill Winery in Napa Valley.
MicroCrush--based at a small, artisanal, family-owned winery--offers you a chance to make your own wine. It can be as much as one barrel (24 cases) or a one-day adventure, Bottle-Blending Day Camp, where you leave with little as three bottles.
Want to make a barrel? Sign up by calling 707/255-2332 or emailing info@napamicrocrush.com. The MicroCrush timeframe begins with harvest and extends through at least an eight month period for white wine and up to a 24-month timeframe for most red wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon. You can choose what type of wine grape you want to work with…and MicroCrush will find the vineyard source for you and handle all the details from when the grapes arrive at the winery to when you leave with your finished bottles.
A shorter-term one-day alternative is the Bottle Blending Day Camp. Winemakers Judd Finkelstein and Kenn Vigoda will guide you through a day of tasting and blending. When you leave, you’ll take with you three bottles (or more, depending on your preference) of your own Napa Valley (red) Bordeaux-style blend. You can sign up with as little as 24 hours’ notice--via 707/255-2332 or info@napamicrocrush.com.
Winemakers Judd Finkelstein and Kenn Vigoda have a combined 60 years of winemaking expertise and the winery’s setting in the heart of the Napa Valley makes the experience truly memorable. Judd’s Hill’s MicroCrush was the first winery to offer this type of service, which literally started in the family’s garage--thus aligning with today’s usage, ‘garagiste’ winemakers.
The founders of Judd’s Hill, Art and Bunnie Finkelstein, started producing wines in the Napa Valley in the 1970s. Now the second generation of the family, Judd and Holly, has joined the business, continuing to hand-craft ultra-premium wines. Judd’s Hill is located at 2332 Silverado Trail (Napa 94558) and is open for tours and tastings by appointment daily.
