LYNBROOK, N.Y.--()--Long Island American Water is removing the mandatory water restrictions for non-essential outdoor water use by its customers. Customers are asked to follow an odd-even schedule for outdoor use, such as lawn watering, as required by Nassau County ordinance. This ordinance also restricts outdoor water use between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“Their efforts, along with the work of our dedicated employees, helped us to maintain high quality water and fire protection services for all of our communities.”
“I want to thank our customers for their cooperation during this period of extreme heat and decreased rainfall,” said William Varley, Long Island American’s president. “Their efforts, along with the work of our dedicated employees, helped us to maintain high quality water and fire protection services for all of our communities.”
The company issued restrictions on non-essential water use, such as watering lawns and washing cars, earlier this month because of high temperatures and a lack of precipitation which resulted in higher than normal water demands.
