Dell Introduces Security Solutions Portfolio for Midsize Businesses

New Dell-Exclusive Network Security Solutions in Partnership with Juniper Networks, Endpoint Security Solutions from Dell KACE and Partnership with SecureWorks for Security Services

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dell today announced a comprehensive security solution portfolio for midsized businesses and organizations that integrates industry leading technology, products, security management tools and services to help customers protect their IT infrastructure and most precious asset—data.

“Traditional approaches to network security have pushed complexity and escalating costs directly onto the customer, usually the business or IT buyer”

“Security is one of the most pressing IT issues businesses face today. It is difficult and increasingly complex for midsize businesses to assemble the resources to protect against the numerous security threats they face—a data breach through the network, data leakage by employees, malware attacks or lost laptops,” said Steve Felice, president, Dell consumer, small and medium business. “Dell has entered the security space and done the work for our customers. The result is our comprehensive approach to security that helps protect against attacks via the network or endpoints like laptops and smart phones, and provides a full range of security services.”

According to Gartner’s Jim Browning, “Given the still struggling economy, small and medium businesses have been slower to make new security investments, but the investments they are making have been focused on consolidating vendors and streamlining security processes, thus making the multifunction security platform a logical choice.”1

As part of its comprehensive security solution, Dell and Juniper Networks announced today plans for an expansion of their agreement to develop additional SMB focused Unified Threat Management features and network security appliances, adding to the existing J-SRX Services Gateway portfolio that sets the standard for on-premise network security. The complete portfolio is available starting today as the Dell J-SRX Services Gateway Series.

Also announced today, Dell and SecureWorks, Inc., a leading global provider of information security services, have established an partnership to provide a full range of information security services that help customers identify, monitor and manage security risks and compliance needs. The services will be available by the end of the year.

“Security threats and vulnerabilities have dramatically increased in recent years and organizations need to first understand what security means for their business and what data is at risk for attack,” said Peter Adams, vice president of customer solutions for Lighthouse Information Systems. "A comprehensive approach including services eliminates IT maintenance, lowers cost and allows business owners to focus on business, not IT.”

Dell Security Solution Portfolio

The Dell J-SRX Services Gateways integrate a full suite of advanced network security services into a single appliance, enabling organizations to simplify their security deployments. These network security appliances provide best-in-class firewall, VPN, Intrusion prevention, anti-spam, anti-virus and web filtering technologies to secure the network, replacing legacy Firewall/VPN/IPS devices. The Dell J-SRX Services Gateways’ powerful but easy-to-use features allow network administrators of all experience levels to configure and deploy advanced security architectures.

Endpoint Security:

The Dell KACE K1000 Management Appliance provides comprehensive features for managing endpoint security. The appliance offers a wide range of life-cycle management capabilities including system inventory, helpdesk and application deployment as well as key security features such as vulnerability assessment and remediation via patch management and configuration enforcement. It also enables IT managers to more easily plan, execute and report on security compliance efforts on Windows and Mac operating systems. The K1000 includes the recently announced Dell KACE Secure Browser, which uses application virtualization to reduce internet-based security risks.

Security Services:

Dell, through its SecureWorks partnership, will offer a portfolio of powerful security services, to help midsize businesses improve their security posture, achieve their regulatory compliance, and lower IT costs by offloading day-to-day security monitoring, management and remediation to a trusted security services provider, working as an extension of a customers’ IT staff. Services to be offered include: 24 x 7 Security Monitoring, Monitoring and Management of firewalls and security devices, Security Assessments and Web Application Scanning. These services also facilitate compliance with constantly evolving regulator mandates including PCI, GLBA, Sarbanes-Oxley, NERC/CIP, and HIPAA.

Quotes:

“Traditional approaches to network security have pushed complexity and escalating costs directly onto the customer, usually the business or IT buyer,” said Alex Gray, senior vice president and general manager of branch office solutions at Juniper. “Together, Juniper and Dell can deliver significant value for these customers by driving network security simplification. Working together, Dell and Juniper will only accelerate customers’ satisfaction as we reinvent the experience and economics of IT security.”

“Businesses can now look to Dell, their trusted partner, to provide a complete portfolio of dependable, robust security offerings,” said Michael Cote, chairman and CEO for SecureWorks. “One reason businesses worldwide trust SecureWorks to protect their data is because of its unique early threat warning system and threat intelligence gathered by SecureWorks’ Counter Threat Unit. In addition to many other benefits, Dell clients will clearly gain from this early visibility into emerging threats.”
