Ping Identity Previews Seamless SSO Access with Multiple Protocols and Levels of Assurance at Burton Catalyst 2010

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ping Identity® will participate in this year’s Burton Catalyst interoperability demo, showing a future concept in which its PingFederate Internet Single Sign-On (SSO) software will empower users to seamlessly access multiple Cloud-based applications or Websites regardless of the application’s ICAM levels of assurance (LOA) requirements or access protocols. Whether they are using SAML, OpenID or Information Cards, users login once at each identity provider responsible for managing their Identity credentials. PingFederate manages level of assurance and related SSO processing with the application behind the scenes.

The Burton Group’s Interoperability Demo: Open Identity for Business Interoperability takes place Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Catalyst Conference North America 2010 in San Diego, CA. Ping Identity and other members of the OpenID Foundation, the Information Card Foundation, the Open Identity Exchange, Kantara Initiative and Identity Commons will demonstrate enterprise uses of open identity as a business-enabler. The interop will showcase:

• Practical applications of the work of the US Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM) Subcommittee, National Institutes of Health, and their partners
• Examples of using OpenID, Information Card, and SAML identities at different levels of assurance across multiple sites
• Illustrations of how open identity is moving to mobile devices and enabling new types of mobile apps
• New browser-based apps that use identity services to automate cross-site user experiences

Ping Identity will demonstrate how PingFederate can process multiple SSO protocols to allow a user to visit three different but related Internet-based applications that require different ICAM levels of assurance. In the demo, the user begins by going to a Website that requires a low assurance ID (LOA1) for access. In this demo case, PingFederate allows the user to authenticate with OpenID. The user then moves to a second site that requires LOA2 where access requires identity verification from an identity provider that has used some Internet identity proofing (SAML) to assure that the user is who he claims to be. If the user has not already authenticated with an LOA2 ID, PingFederate at the relying party site will ask the user to authenticate with an identity provider that is certified to provide that level of assurance. Finally, at the third application where the user is required to authenticate with an ID that is legally binding (LOA3), PingFederate at the relying party application verifies that the identity provider is providing an LOA3 ID (Information Card or SAML).

Ping Identity will also demonstrate how PingFederate can support an identity provider that can provide these three levels of assurance, providing a one-stop shop for the user to receive identity services.
