EDISON, N.J.--()--CheckPoint HR, the trusted ally in web-based Human Resources management for small to mid-sized companies, today reports that since the inception of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act of 2010 last March, private-sector employers have increased hiring by 3.2%. The HIRE Act provides qualified employers with temporary payroll tax forgiveness of the employer’s 6.2% share of Social Security payroll taxes on wages paid to new hires who had been previously unemployed.

According to CheckPoint HR’s data, which is polled from more than 400 customers in the Tri-State area, of the 3.2% increase in hiring, 17% of all employers are electing to take advantage of the HIRE Act tax credit. This data coincides with the recent New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development report which noted private sector employment rose by 5,300 jobs as commercial employers have increased their payroll in three of the past five months.
