LEXINGTON, Ky.--()--One of the world’s foremost authorities on natural language understanding and speech technology will keynote SpeechTEK 2010 at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, August 3 at the New York Marriott Marquis (www.speechtek.com).
James F. Allen, author of Natural Language Understanding and The John H. Dessauer Chair of Computer Science at the University of Rochester, will explain the state of natural language processing today and how close we are to automatic natural language understanding, summarization, translation and information retrieval.
Speech technology solutions are of particular interest to corporate executives and managers looking for ways to cut costs and improve performance.
Natural language processing (NLP) is an umbrella term applied to a diverse set of technology applications that can facilitate real-world communications. NLP is a driving force behind many speech technology solutions and applications that are being applied across a broad spectrum of internal and external business strategies for improving enterprise performance and productivity.
This year’s theme for SpeechTEK is Positioned for Recovery, Primed for Growth, illustrating the vital role speech technology is playing in helping companies recover and grow from the biggest recession of our lifetimes. The three-day conference August 2-4, will thoroughly examine all aspects of speech and its myriad applications throughout the enterprise.
SpeechTEK is co-located with CRM Evolution, an examination of business strategies designed to reduce costs by solidifying customer loyalty.
Dr. Allen’s research interests span a range of issues covering natural language understanding, discourse, knowledge representation, common-sense reasoning and planning. He is particularly interested in the overlap between NLP and reasoning.
SpeechTEK is recognized worldwide as the speech industry’s premier event and the largest dedicated exclusively to speech solutions.
