MALVERN, Pa.--()--The Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Bio (www.pennsylvaniabio.org) announced today that Christopher Molineaux will take the helm of Pennsylvania Bio as the association’s president effective May 1st. Molineaux currently serves as Pennsylvania Bio’s senior vice president. He succeeds Dennis M. “Mickey” Flynn who is exiting the management of Pennsylvania Bio to dedicate greater time to economic development opportunities in Chester County. Flynn will transition to vice chairman of the Pennsylvania Bio Board of Directors effective immediately, as announced in February.
“I have worked alongside Chris for the past eight months, and I believe that our membership will grow stronger through his leadership”
“Pennsylvania Bio has benefitted greatly from strong leadership over its 20-year history. The Board of Directors looks forward to advancing from a strong foundation under Chris’ leadership,” said Steven Nichtberger, M.D., Pennsylvania Bio chairman and president & CEO of Tengion, Inc. “As the Board looked for the next leader of Pennsylvania Bio, it was clear that Chris’ combination of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry as well as private sector and governmental public affairs would bring the right skill set to navigate the rapidly evolving business climate in which our industry operates.”
Molineaux brings to Pennsylvania Bio 20 years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical and health care industries, with front-line experience in developing and executing strategies to navigate a shifting economic and political environment. From driving organizational and marketplace understanding of the evolution happening within the industry to working in a dynamic, growth organization facing regulatory and reimbursement challenges, Molineaux will provide a wealth of real-world experience to Pennsylvania Bio members.
Prior to joining Pennsylvania Bio in September 2009, Molineaux served as worldwide vice president of pharmaceutical communication and public affairs for Johnson & Johnson. He began his Johnson & Johnson career as vice president of corporate communications at Centocor in Malvern and was later promoted into the role of vice president for communications of the company’s global Biotechnology, Immunology & Oncology (B.I.O.) business unit. During his time with Johnson & Johnson, Molineaux served on the leadership teams and management boards for each division for which he worked. He helped to promote the company’s advocacy agenda in the US and abroad, guided the communication of the company’s value to government agencies globally, and worked to build public and investor awareness and understanding around the company’s product and pipeline portfolio.
Molineaux previously served as vice president of public affairs at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA), where he worked on many critical industry issues, including the passage of a meaningful prescription drug benefit for Medicare beneficiaries (Medicare part D). Prior to this, he worked at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association developing public awareness and education strategies related to commercial and government payer systems and helping to reposition the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system of health care plans at a time when business organizations sought solutions to lowering health care costs. Molineaux also worked as a public affairs executive for both the federal Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture.
“I am honored and proud to lead this great organization and to serve the Pennsylvania biosciences community. I thank Mickey for all of his contributions,” said Molineaux. “Our industry is unmatched in its contributions to the commonwealth in jobs, revenue and hope for patients, and I look forward to representing the innovation and promise that define our companies.”
“I have worked alongside Chris for the past eight months, and I believe that our membership will grow stronger through his leadership,” said Flynn. “I have been gratified and flattered by the many opportunities that have come my way, and I am anxious to begin focusing my attention on several other projects that will provide enormous benefit to this industry that I have been so honored and humbled to have served. I stated in February that I looked forward to ensuring a successful transition, and that work is now done. It is time for Chris to lead Pennsylvania Bio to continued success.”
