14 Year-Old’s Science Project Gets NY Congressman’s Attention

Project Reveals Fire-Destroyed Home’s “Green” Transformation

Saturday, April 17, 2010

10:00 AM – Presentation and house tour begin
11:00 AM – Rep. Tim Bishop to arrive

WHAT:

In December 2008, the South Hampton home of David and Saundra Dubin and their three children was tragically destroyed by fire. Their son, Jeremy, now 14, was devastated. With the help of the Hamptons Green Alliance, an alliance of green sub-contractors founded by Telemark; and architect, Richard Stott of Flynn Stott Architects, Jeremy soon learned that the home would be reborn as one of the first provable models of net zero energy, carbon neutral green living. Inspired by what was happening, Jeremy asked his teacher at South Hampton High School if he could do an extensive science project on the green developments taking place.

On April 17th, Jeremy Dubin will present his groundbreaking science project to his classmates at the just completed home. Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) and other dignitaries will visit what is believed to be the U.S.’ first net zero energy, carbon neutral home. Hamptons Green Alliance’s Roy and Tim Dalene and architect Richard Stott will also be available with Jeremy to answer technical questions about the renovation process. Telemark’s Frank Dalene will be available to answer questions about carbon neutrality.

Attending Jeremy Dubin’s presentation on green building will be:

- Dubin’s classmates from South Hampton High School

- Congressman Tim Bishop (D-NY)

- State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle

- State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr.

- Vince Capagna, Chairman, USGBC

- Jay Schneiderman, Suffolk County Legislator

- Anna Throne-Holst, Southampton Town Supervisor
