LEAGUE CITY, Texas--()--ERF Wireless (OTCBB:ERFW), a leading provider of enterprise-class wireless broadband products and services, announced today that the company’s Oil & Gas Services Division has recently completed the initial installations of its wireless broadband services to its first customer in the Horn River Basin of the Canadian Province of British Columbia. While ERF Wireless has previously reported that it has wireless broadband capabilities throughout much of the Canadian Province of Alberta through a Master Service Agreement with a Canadian public company, this is the first reported service entry into British Columbia and the first report of the deployment of its wireless broadband services in Canada.
Dr. H. Dean Cubley, CEO of ERF Wireless, commented, “This initial service entry into Canada’s natural gas-rich Horn River Shale Basin marks our first deployment in the Canadian markets and illustrates our continued determination to become the supplier of choice for broadband communication services for all of the North American oil and gas industry. Many of our major oil and gas customers have extensive operations in most of the active oil and gas regions of North America as well as in other regions worldwide. In support of these customers, we’ll provide terrestrial broadband from our own networks in the oil and gas basins where we already have coverage and we’ll secure Master Service Agreements with other carriers or buy networks where we don’t already own network coverage. For areas currently without any wireless broadband capability at all, we’ll resell VSAT services to our customers while we build our own networks.”
According to Dr. Cubley, “The year 2009 for ERF Wireless’ Oil & Gas Services Division was greatly influenced by the worldwide downturn in oil and gas prices just as we were getting our oil and gas division started. While this could be looked at as disappointing, it actually helped by giving ERF Wireless the time to increase our ability to serve our increasing customer list as well as ramp up for the recovery in energy prices I knew would occur. Much of 2009 was used to increase our network coverage in oil and gas regions, to grow our fleet of mobile broadband towers (MBTs), and to develop and grow our ties with the world’s largest oil and gas service company through our exclusive contractual relationship. As expected, the downturn in energy prices has now been reversed and with the start of 2010 oil and gas prices have not only stabilized but are regaining upward momentum.
“More importantly to ERF Wireless, the rig count is continuing to increase throughout North America. We have continued to increase the deployment of our fleet of MBTs as 2010 gets under way and, in the first six weeks of the year, we’ve already seen a tremendous increase in the amount of new customer interest in our wireless broadband solution for oil and gas operational support. In addition to drilling, downstream oil and gas applications for pipelines, well completions, and long-term SCADA applications, are becoming a major part of our overall revenue stream within oil and gas and we look to harvest that increasing business as well. We’ll continue working with our exclusive marketing partner throughout 2010 and beyond to take full advantage of this growing interest and to develop an ever-increasing percentage of the North American oil and gas customer communications market share with what we believe is a truly unique product for the industry.”
Dr. Cubley went on to add, “Our Oil & Gas Services Division began contributing revenue to ERF Wireless in 2009 even with the downturn in the economy and the collapse of oil and gas prices late in 2008 and well into 2009. However, with the recovery of oil and gas prices and an increasing rig count, we fully expect this division will become a major contributor to our revenue growth and to the company’s overall financial health in 2010.”
