Canadian Financing Bulletin (CFB) reports over 3500 closings by more than 1400 companies in 2009

Canadian capital markets raise over $57 billion in metals, energy, and technology sectors. Fund raising by gold stocks dominates major rebound in financing activity

VANCOUVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To receive an advance copy of the 2009 year in review, click here

The Canadian Financing Bulletin published its year-end report for 2009 today. It is a comprehensive documentation of financing activity in the metals, energy, and technology sectors. We tracked over 3500 closings by more than 1400 companies last year trading on the TSX, TSX-V, NEX, and/or CNSX boards. Over 3000 of these closings were non-brokered placements and nearly 800 were ‘flow-through’ placements. These financings were used to help development of 40 different commodities ranging from Aluminum to Zinc, with monies being allocated to properties in 83 different countries across six continents. In total, Canadian capital markets raised over $57 billion for these three sectors.

These numbers help illustrate the important global role Canadian capital markets currently hold. Companies – and investors – worldwide look to Canada’s exchanges to get maximum exposure to commodity vehicles. Be it green field explorers or giant multinational conglomerates, Canada is an open door for international finance – putting money where it can be used effectively and efficiently. The Canadian Financing Bulletin stays on top of potential new issuances of equity with daily updating of current financing activities. Domestic and foreign investors alike have come to depend on our unique service while looking for the next great opportunity to invest in primary offerings.
