SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that ASMedia Technology Inc., a Taiwanese IC design house, has selected the Agilent USB 3.0 test solution for in-house certification of SuperSpeed USB 3.0 devices. Agilent’s comprehensive solution ensures compliance with the USB 3.0 standard. The Agilent USB 3.0 test solution is designed to reduce development costs, provide accurate test results, and simplify measurement processes for test engineers in the consumer electronics, cable manufacturer, and semiconductor industries.
“Agilent’s USB 3.0 test solution offers reliable and repeatable test results, enabling us to quickly and accurately test our designs, and thus pass compliance tests”
The solution includes a DSA91304A Infiniium oscilloscope, USB 3.0 test fixture, an error detector and pattern generator based on the J-BERT N4903B high-performance serial BERT, and the N5990A automation test software platform from Agilent’s partner BitifEye Digital Test Solutions. The J-BERT’s internal SJ and SSC generation eliminates the need for external signal and noise generators required in previous USB 3.0 test setups. Agilent unveiled the new J-BERT capabilities at the USB-IF Compliance Workshop in Portland, Ore., Nov. 2-4, 2009.
“Agilent is involved in the development of a full array of high-speed digital communication specifications. We help companies meet compliance testing requirements and address the challenges presented by those technologies,” said Allen Chang, general manager of Agilent Taiwan Electronic Measurements Group. “Agilent develops tools in the physical, data link, and protocol layers to help companies meet the challenges posed by the USB 3.0 standard.”
“Agilent’s USB 3.0 test solution offers reliable and repeatable test results, enabling us to quickly and accurately test our designs, and thus pass compliance tests,” said Chi Chang, vice president of ASMedia’s R&D division. “The Agilent USB 3.0 test solution also lets us smoothly validate the signal integrity and perform stress tests on our USB 3.0 devices. We are happy to choose Agilent as our long-term technology partner for high-speed, high-performance digital IC test solutions.”
ASMedia announced its first USB-IF certified SuperSpeed USB product -- the ASM1051 USB 3.0 to SATA controller. The controller, which is the first in Taiwan, has been widely adopted in large-size storage devices, offering much higher data-transfer rates as compared to USB 2.0 devices.
“ASM1051 represents a significant milestone for ASMedia Technology,” said Weber Chuang, senior associate vice president of ASMedia Technology. “The advanced device allows users to fully leverage the wide bandwidth of the next-generation SuperSpeed USB specification. ASMedia Technology promises to continually enhance our product capabilities and provide high-quality, turn-key solutions.”
Benefits of the Agilent USB 3.0 test solution for transmitter and receiver test include:
- comprehensive and accurate transmitter and receiver design and characterization test capability;
- customer investment protection due to signal generation and analysis capability for the bus standards USB, PCI Express®, SATA and DisplayPort testing; and
- easy, accurate and fast compliance testing.
