Ixia and Rohde & Schwarz Team Up to Achieve Ground-Breaking Advancements in LTE Network Quality Assurance

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading, global provider of wireless and core network test solutions, today announced that they will demonstrate their IxCatapult LTE multi-UE simulator using the R&S®CMW500 LTE protocol tester operating as an LTE base station emulator. The demonstration will take place in Ixia’s booth (1C62) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 15 through 18. Ixia’s IxCatapult multi-UE simulator is used by eNode B manufacturers and service providers to assure in-depth quality from their wireless nodes. The R&S®CMW500 LTE protocol tester supports the latest developments in the LTE standard and is the most comprehensive testing solution for LTE handset development.

The demonstration is the result of joint testing activities and gives an example of a call setup between both instruments, running a multiple-bearer setup to simulate a realistic network scenario. The result is dramatically enhanced value and benefits for manufacturers and service providers developing and deploying eNode B LTE components through a set of quality references and testing tools based on the IxCatapult multi-UE simulator.

In earlier testing, the Ixia LTE UE simulator applied more than 2500 functional, system and stability tests against the R&S CMW500 LTE protocol tester – validating the tests and procedures. Extensive regression testing run on a regular basis is essential for high quality assurance through the entire life cycle of an LTE network, from component development, to integration, to deployment, to system upgrade. Product functionality, capacity, reliability, and completeness are assured at every stage.
