WASHINGTON--()--VT Group U.S., an industry leader in the delivery of customer-critical services to government agencies and U.S. arm of U.K.-based VT Group plc (VTG.L), is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheila M. McNeill, former National President of the Navy League of the United States, to the Advisory Board.
“In an era where America’s Armed Forces find themselves both stretched by global engagements and pinched by budget realities, the government needs innovative, performance-focused contracting partners”
The Advisory Board serves to assist the management of VT Group U.S., in the development and execution of business strategies and advise in matters relating to business development and customer relationships. McNeill joins Lt. General Henry Tom Glisson, US Army (Ret.), and Rear Admiral Jan C. Gaudio, USN (Ret.).
“In an era where America’s Armed Forces find themselves both stretched by global engagements and pinched by budget realities, the government needs innovative, performance-focused contracting partners,” said McNeill. “VT Group owns the reputation for being a supremely responsive, no-nonsense partner of the troops, and for bringing fresh, well-conceived options to its contracting partners. I am excited to have the opportunity to join such a high-regarded group of professionals, especially at a time when the focus is on the future and expanding the strategic capabilities VT Group has to offer our customers.”
McNeill served as National President of the Navy League of the United States from 2003-2005. The Navy League is a civilian organization dedicated to supporting the sea services – the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Flag Merchant Marine.
As National President, McNeill was responsible for leading the Navy League's 70,000 members who are dedicated to educating American citizens and elected officials about the importance of sea power. The Georgia native is the only woman to hold this position since the league was founded in 1902. She has been a member of the league since 1966 and served at every leadership level, and now serves on the national advisory board.
McNeill served as a national vice president responsible for the organization's legislative affairs activities. While serving in that position, she aggressively sought support on Capitol Hill and made educating congressional members about the sea services her top priority. McNeill also served as a national vice president for strategic planning and development and national director for the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, The Navy League Foundation and is currently the President of The Camden Partnership, a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization which promotes community support for Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay (NSBKB) and the military missions housed there.
Because of McNeill's long history of active involvement with the sea services; she served as vice chairman of the executive committee for the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS), an influential advisory committee to the secretary of defense and other DOD officials. During her three-year DACOWITS tour, McNeill visited 45 U.S. Military installations throughout the world.
“Sheila McNeill brings a lifetime of leadership and service on behalf of our armed services that is commendable and unparalleled,” said David Dacquino, Chief Executive Officer of VT Group U.S. “Her experience and commitment to the armed forces make her an ideal addition to the VT Group family as we embark on an exciting time of growth and opportunity. We will achieve this the VT way, utilizing the ideals and level of professionalism that make us who we are.”
