SANTA ANA, Calif.--()--William Howard Taft University is currently accepting applications for the Ninth Annual Roger J. Duthoy Scholarship Program. The award, valued in excess of $20,000.00, will include all tuition and related fees in the school’s online Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) Program.
All coursework in the Program is presented in a distance learning modality. Accordingly, students may keep their full-time positions and live anywhere with Internet access.
The Program has been found to be of particular interest to individuals with public or private teaching experience or middle level administrators who are interested in moving into higher levels of administration.
Applicants for the scholarship must have earned a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and have a minimum of five years of teaching or education administration experience. The institution will accept applications and supporting materials until March 30, 2010. The award recipient for 2009/2010 will be announced in May 2010.
Dr. Barry P. Resnick, Dean of the University’s School of Education, announced that the recipient of the last year’s scholarship is Danielle F. Lowe. Ms. Lowe is a kindergarten teacher in the inner city school district of Middletown, New York where she strives to lay the foundation for her student’s educational future. She is currently the English Language Arts core leader where she assists in implementing the most recent research in literacy strategies and assessments.
In 2007, Ms. Lowe implemented the ‘Books for Babies’ program to promote literacy in low socio economic areas by visiting hospitals and informing new parents about the importance of reading to babies. In 2009, Ms. Lowe presented her research article Helping Children Cope through Literature at Pembroke University in Oxford, England. Ms. Lowe earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the State University of New York at New Paltz where she now teaches graduate courses for the Elementary Education department.
