IRVING, Texas--()--OnAsset Intelligence Inc., a leading provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless asset tracking, sensing, and control solutions, today announces the company’s President and CEO, Adam Crossno, received top honors from Deutsche Post DHL when he was recognized at the DHL Innovation Award Ceremony in Bonn on December 1, 2009, for the development of SENTRY FlightSafe™, a ground-breaking, wireless solution for tracking and monitoring air freight.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of OnAsset and our extraordinary team of engineers”
Named as “Most Innovative Junior Scientist,” the aim of the award is to recognize the achievements of a dedicated expert who has developed integrated solutions to track and monitor cargo in a real-time environment. The DHL Innovation Center justified this award to Crossno by highlighting that no other technology to date guarantees a complete surveillance of air cargo as it is transported. An expert panel of judges concluded that the innovative technology constitutes a radical innovation for real-time tracking in air cargo and provides the missing link and pathway towards a transparent supply chain.
Belonging to the OnAsset SENTRY product family, FlightSafe is an intelligent wireless GSM device equipped with a full sensor array to address the most demanding needs for cold-chain monitoring, chain-of-custody management, and package integrity. The unit supports all modes of travel and includes specialized features for advanced in-flight monitoring and aircraft detection. Using this advanced capability, the device will autonomously turn off its wide-area wireless transmitters when in the belly of an aircraft while continuing to monitor local conditions. When the aircraft lands, SENTRY FlightSafe recognizes the landing event and restores wireless transmission over a GSM connection. This feature makes the unit safe for travel on airplanes as well as offers a unique and intelligent method for preserving the battery power of the device while in the air. This guarantees that package conditions are monitored throughout the duration of a shipment. Additional device sensors include temperature, light and dark, motion, speed, and advanced location features including GPS and AGPS.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of OnAsset and our extraordinary team of engineers,” said Adam Crossno. “Our goal was to create a premium product with high sensing capabilities to ensure temperature and product quality during transit from the point of origin to final destination. We look forward to continuing the reach of FlightSafe with our customers and partners to further secure time and temperature sensitive shipments.”
Nominations and the winner of the DHL Innovation award were decided by the following panel of experts: Dr. Sabine Groner-Weber, German Federal Ministry for Transportation, Construction and Urban Development; Professor Dr. Michael Schenk, Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF; Professor Dr. Eckard Minx, Daimler AG; and, Dr. Keith Ulrich, Deutsche Post DHL.
