Passenger traffic

In October 2009, passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris dropped by 3.3% compared with October 2008. Paris airports handled a total of 7.1 million passengers divided up between 5.1 million for Paris-Charles de Gaulle (-1.9%) and 2.0 million for Paris-Orly (-6.7%). Traffic at Paris-Orly was adversely affected by a strike conducted by a provider of aviation ground services.

• International traffic (excluding Europe) decreased by 1.6%. Traffic on routes to and from Africa was almost stable at -0.1%. Traffic on North American routes fell by 1.6% while Latin America dropped by 2.2%. On Middle Eastern and Asian routes, traffic dropped by 2.9% and 3.1% respectively.
• European traffic (excluding France) fell by 4.6% including -3.2% on Schengen routes and -9.9% for the British and Irish markets.
• Domestic traffic stood at -4.4%.
• The number of connecting passengers increased by 1.2% in October 2009 compared with October 2008 resulting in a connecting rate of 25.8% (against 24.6% in October 2008).

For the first ten months of the year, passenger traffic decreased by 5.2%. For the same period, the number of connecting passengers decreased by 3.3% resulting in a connecting rate of 24.6% (against 24.2% for the first ten months of 2008).

The number of aircraft movements saw a 6.7% decrease in October 2009 year on year (including -6.2% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and -8.0% at Paris-Orly). The passenger load factor reached 75.5%.
