Former Federal Reserve Board Officer, Angela Desmond, Joins Corporate Risk Advisors as Managing Director

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Corporate Risk Advisors LLC, a DC-based consulting and strategic advisory firm specializing in the financial services industry, today announced that Angela Desmond has joined the firm as Managing Director.

Ms. Desmond has considerable experience in policy development, financial services regulation, payment and settlement systems, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and international coordination and outreach. Prior to joining Corporate Risk Advisors, Ms. Desmond served as Chief of Staff for Mark W. Olson, Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and acted as interim Chief Administrative Officer.

Ms. Desmond is a former officer with the Federal Reserve Board, where her work included contributing to the development and implementation of its Enterprise Risk Management Program; assisting in efforts to improve the resilience of the U.S. financial system and Critical Infrastructure; and helping to establish and implement policy and supervisory initiatives relating to futures commission merchants, investment advisors, and bank securities and insurance activities. Ms. Desmond also was active in coordinating business continuity and pandemic planning efforts involving the Federal Reserve, federal financial agencies, and the financial sector. She participated in several work groups at the Joint Forum and the Financial Stability Forum, and in outreach efforts to foreign central banks and regulatory authorities on behalf of the International Monetary Fund. She was a principal author of an interagency statement, Sound Practices to Strengthen the Resilience of the Financial System (2005), and a Joint Forum paper, High Level Principles for Business Continuity (2005).

Ms. Desmond is a former General Counsel of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. She was a Branch Chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission and served in the Appellate Section of the General Counsel’s office. Ms. Desmond holds a J.D. from American University, where she was an Editor of the Law Review.

Ms. Desmond will be working with Susanna K. Tisa, who joined Corporate Risk Advisors as Managing Director in September 2008. Ms. Tisa is a senior executive with over twenty five years of experience at Fortune 500 financial companies, community banks, industry consulting firms, and international development organizations. She specializes in advising clients on liquidity and capital planning, corporate treasury, risk management and compliance, financial performance management, and investor relations. Ms. Tisa’s background includes serving as Senior Vice President of Finance at Freddie Mac, Vice President/Treasurer at Capital One Financial, and Vice President of Corporate Finance at First Interstate Bancorp. She has also served as Chief Financial Officer of the Development Gateway Foundation and as Capital Strategy Advisor to global microfinance network FINCA International.
