TAIPEI, Taiwan--()--At GITEX Dubai, the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion displays some award-winning products. Taiwan Excellence awards are delivered to local companies as part of an effort by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council to highlight outstanding products.
The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion is located in Sheikh Saeed Hall, Stand No. NH-P10. The Pavilion displays 86 Taiwan excellence products from 31 brands. The symbol of Taiwan Excellence is a unique trademark for Taiwan’s innovalue. It heralds Taiwan’s image to world-class quality in product innovation, design and manufacturing. These four criteria represent the highest standards which Taiwan products must meet to maintain its competitive edge in the global markets.
To promote Taiwan’s industry, the Taiwan government emphasizes the development of branding as the key task for increasing the competitiveness of Taiwan’s economy. There are two goals of the Branding Taiwan program: The first is to integrate resources which aid the establishment of brands and help to create a favorable environment for development; the second is to support Taiwan enterprises in brand development and increase the value of Taiwan’s international brands.
Every year hundreds of Taiwan-made products participate in Taiwan Excellence Awards nomination. Each product is evaluated by a panel of experts according to prescribed standards. The winning products are entitled to use the red interwoven arc symbol of Taiwan Excellence.

Taiwan Excellence Conference
Executives of some of Taiwan’s largest electronics companies are delivering their opinions on the latest products and technology at the 2009 Taiwan Innovative Products — Thinking Outside the Box press conference during GITEX Dubai.
The presentations take place from 11:00 am to 12:40 pm at Hotel Al Murooj Rotana Ballroom A&B on 19 October. Members of the news media are cordially invited to attend and participate in the question-and-answer sessions at the end of each presentation.
Taiwan’s consumer electronics industry is enthusiastic in offering products to meet the demand for mobility and digital entertainment. The Taiwan suppliers — already major players in the global IT industry — provide an extensive growing index for the global consumer electronics market.
Taiwanese companies make about half of the world’s monitor and television-sized LCDs, and LCD TVs are among the fastest growing consumer electronics products today. In the consumer electronics industry, Taiwan companies also account for a large portion of the world’s mobile phones, projectors and global positioning systems.
Tom T. C. Tseng, Director of the Taiwan Trade Centre Dubai Office, addresses the press event with a warm welcome. Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is a non-profit government-sponsored trade promotion organization in Taiwan that was founded in 1970. TAITRA helps Taiwanese businesses and manufacturers to boost their international competitiveness and to meet challenges in foreign markets.
Company executives speaking at the event include George Su, Regional Director, META Region, System Business Group, Asus Technology; Yu Han Wang, Managing Director, Edimax Technology; Alan Chu, MEA Sales Director, Micro-Star International and Adam Dent, Regional Manager, Middle East & Africa BU, Optoma Corp. Each of the presentations is followed by a brief Q&A session. At 12:40 pm, a luncheon starts at the Pergolas Restaurant.
Asus is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of motherboards for personal computers. In recent years, the company has developed mobile phones and later became the first in the world to make netbooks, also known as EeePCs, which have since become one of the fastest growing innovations in the computing industry. Edimax is one of the world’s leading providers of networking equipment. Micro-Star International, also known as MSI, is one of the world’s largest makers of netbook computers and other electronic devices. Optoma, about a year ago, made the world’s first pocket-sized projector, which has won applauding reviews in the news media.
The world is paying attention to Taiwan’s efforts as the island’s companies are receiving increasing accolades for product design from organizations such as iF and the red dot. The iF product design award is one of the world’s top three leading design awards. Every year at Germany’s Hannover Exhibition Centre, around 2,700 products from 35 nations are being evaluated and judged by renowned experts, and only the best receives an iF seal of outstanding design quality.
With more than 8,000 submissions from 60 countries, the international “red dot design award” ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world.
