Experts Forecast Fastest Growing SSL Provider to Pass All SSL Competitors in 18 Months

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Netcraft LTD, a leading industry analyst firm, is predicting GoDaddy.com will surpass all SSL certificate competitors worldwide in a matter of months. In its Sept. Secure Server Survey Report, Netcraft states, “If VeriSign and Go Daddy's market shares continue to converge as they have been since 2006, they look set to cross in about 18 months’ time.”¹

GoDaddy.com is already the world leader in net-new SSL certificates, even as a relative newcomer to the SSL industry. GoDaddy.com started offering certificates in April 2004, quickly rivaling the Old Guard, which was in place from the SSL industry’s inception and has acquired numerous SSL providers.

Much like domain names and Web hosting, Go Daddy identified a market that was overpriced and underserved, then decided to enter the market to offer better service and prices to customers interested in securing their Web sites. Go Daddy is the fastest growing SSL provider and has been for 12 straight months, with nearly 27 percent of the total SSL market share.

All Go Daddy certificates cost up to seven times less than competitors and include an unlimited server license, meaning one certificate can be used on multiple servers, potentially saving companies thousands of dollars above and beyond the base price.
