BOULDER, Colo.--()--Phil’s Fresh Foods today announced its new name, look and line of fantastically tasty burritos: EVOL® Burritos. A joint venture between Phil’s Fresh Foods’ founder Phil Anson and the Burrito Investment Group (B.I.G. LLC), EVOL Burritos has set its sights on revolutionizing the freezer section with its 11 varieties of hand-rolled, all-natural burritos.
“I'm still making the burritos I love, but now I have the support of an all-star team and the financial resources to grow my company in the way I'd always imagined.”
Brendan Synnott, co-founder of Bear Naked Granola, is at the heart of B.I.G. After selling the granola brand to Kellogg’s in 2008 and appearing on CBS’s Survivor: Tocantins, Synnott was eager to get back into brand-building and saw great potential in the largely uninspiring frozen burrito category.
“People love burritos,” Synnott said. “They’re satisfying and convenient and can be really healthy, so why don’t more of us stock them in our freezers? Because most frozen burritos don’t deliver on taste or nutrition. When I found Phil’s, partnership was a no-brainer — people have no idea a frozen burrito can be this great.”
Synnott recruited key management, creative and sales talent from his Bear Naked dream team to support the EVOL launch. EVOL’s signature burritos feature antibiotic-free chicken, pork, beef and chorizo sausage; cage-free eggs; herb-roasted skin-on potatoes; and house-made salsas and green chilé – all hand-rolled together in fresh tortillas with numerous Colorado-sourced ingredients.
“I’m beyond pumped about the new brand,” said Phillip Anson, founder and partner of EVOL Burritos. “I'm still making the burritos I love, but now I have the support of an all-star team and the financial resources to grow my company in the way I'd always imagined."
EVOL’s diverse burrito lineup offers palate-pleasing options ranging from the egg and potato-packed Breakfast Skillet and the extra meaty Shredded Beef to the vegan Tofu and Spinach Sauté (80 percent organic) and the newest addition, Cilantro Lime Chicken (70 percent organic). At a suggested retail price of $2.99, the 6- and 8-ounce burritos are distributed nationally through numerous key retailers including Whole Foods Market, Wegmans, Vitamin Cottage, King Soopers and Stop & Shop.
About EVOL
EVOL Burritos (evolburritos.com), based in Boulder, Colo., is changing the way the world thinks about frozen burritos. Phil Anson, CEO, chef and founder, is very choosy about what goes into his 11 varieties of hand-rolled burritos: antibiotic-free chicken, pork, beef and chorizo sausage; cage-free eggs; traditionally made tortillas; herb-roasted skin-on potatoes; house-made green chilé and salsas; and numerous local and organic ingredients. EVOL’s burritos, produced by Phil’s Fresh Foods LLC, are available at stores nationwide. You better believe this is all-natural, made-from-scratch deliciousness.
