Empirix Appoints New General Manager, Broadens Depth of Experience of IP Service Quality Assurance Leader

Veteran Telecommunications Industry Executive Rob Markovich Will Lead Business Unit in Accelerating the Profitable Development of New IP Communications Systems

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Empirix™ Inc., the market leader of service quality assurance solutions for new IP communications, today announced the appointment of Rob Markovich as general manager for the company’s Network Assurance Solutions business unit. In this role, Markovich will be responsible for expanding Empirix’s market share and leading position in IP test platforms used worldwide by network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprises. The product families delivered by this business unit include IP Multiservice test solutions, such as Hammer Edge™, IP Multimedia test solutions, such as Hammer G5™, and IP field test solutions, such as Hammer SIP Trunk Tester™.

Markovich brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position. He has held executive positions in marketing, business development and sales for network test and management companies, ranging from early startups to public corporations, and has advised, consulted and/or served as a board member for several network test and management companies. Previously, Markovich was co-founder and executive at Service Level Management pioneer Visual Networks, helping it grow from zero to $100M in five years and leading it in a highly successful IPO, later acquired by Fluke Networks. In addition, Markovich was co-founder and CEO of wireless network management startup Network Chemistry, later acquired by Aruba Networks. Markovich also served as CEO of wireless convergence startup, Agito Networks, where he led partner deals with Cisco, Avaya, Motorola, RIM and Microsoft.

Markovich began his career as a network engineer, supporting the global network of Fortune 50 conglomerate Dupont Company. He later moved into product management and marketing for network test leader Acterna. While there, he was promoted to product line director for the legacy Firebred product portfolio, where he successfully grew sales from $25M to more than $50M.
