CreditReport.com Embeds Dispute Button in Consumer Credit Report to Make it Easier to Challenge Credit Score Errors

Consumers Can Now Request Corrections Online with a Click

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CreditReport.com, a leading provider of credit information and credit score monitoring services, today released a fast and simple way to help consumers easily file disputes with a credit bureau—an interactive online dispute button. Now consumers can quickly and easily dispute mistakes and errors on their credit report through a single click on the CreditReport.com website.

“We believe this is the future of credit reporting services. In the coming months we will be releasing more tools that will help consumers by providing them with better access to low cost credit through the use of their credit information.”

With the new online dispute button CreditReport.com subscribers simply click a mouse to dispute an error and start the correction process. The service is designed to help consumers benefit from accurate information on their credit reports.

Consumers who use CreditReport.com to track their credit report can report errors in their credit information, in addition to errors in information pertaining to public records, credit inquiries, aliases, employment and contact addresses. The dispute button is another easy-to-use tool from CreditReport.com which helps consumers more effectively manage their credit reports and score.

According to US PIRG (a federation of state Public Interest Research Groups), over 75 percent of credit reports have errors, and 25 percent have an error significant enough to result in serious consequences such as paying higher interest rates or even being denied access to credit.

"This is a very important issue for us and our customers as federal law mandates that the credit bureaus investigate and promptly correct any errors consumers report to them. CreditReport.com has worked tirelessly to empower consumers with tools that level the playing field between consumer and creditor, and our dispute button is just one more example," said Bruce Cornelius, chief marketing officer at CreditReport.com.

"Industry research tells us that correcting negative errors typically results in credit scores going up by 20 to 30 points, making it easier to obtain credit at more favorable rates. With our new online dispute button, it’s now simple and easy for consumers to monitor and report potential mistakes," said Cornelius. "Up to now there's been a lot of confusion about the process for reporting and challenging those errors. Our dispute button is another way CreditReport.com is making it easy for consumers to understand and take control of their credit score and credit history."

Since 1998, CreditReport.com has been a leader in helping millions of people to better manage and protect their credit so that any decisions creditors make about them are based on the most accurate credit information possible. The company's ScoreTracker™ feature, launched earlier this year, rapidly alerts consumers to changes in their credit score.

“We are continually seeking to find new ways to empower consumers by providing them with the latest tools that put their financial information into their own hands," Cornelius said. “We believe this is the future of credit reporting services. In the coming months we will be releasing more tools that will help consumers by providing them with better access to low cost credit through the use of their credit information."
