Schooner Information Technology CEO to Discuss the DNA of Next-Generation Datacenters at O’Reilly Velocity Conference

Dr. John Busch to Discuss Leveraging Integrated Data Access Appliances to Accelerate Performance, Cut Costs and Simplify Scaling in Today’s Data-Intensive Web 2.0 and Cloud Computing Datacenters

Velocity 2009
Booth #10

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Schooner Information Technology:

WHO:

Dr. John Busch, co-founder and chief executive officer of Schooner Information Technology, Inc., a provider of data access appliances for information-intensive Web 2.0 and cloud computing datacenters. Prior to Schooner, Dr. Busch was research director of computer system architecture and analysis at Sun Microsystems laboratories from 1999 through 2006. He led research explorations in chip multiprocessing, advanced multi-tier clustered systems for deployment of Internet-based services and advanced high performance computing systems. Dr. Busch received the top President’s Award for Innovation at Sun, and oversaw many division technology transfers.

WHAT:

Dr. Busch will discuss the growing challenges of today's Web and cloud computing datacenters that have reached a critical juncture as exploding demand for their services has collided with existing architectures and technologies. Schooner is one of the leading providers of data access technology, delivering powerful and proven datacenter solutions for rapidly-scaling Internet businesses. Schooner's next generation caching and database appliances compatibly deliver hundreds of thousands of transactions per second while cutting power and space requirements to one-eighth and the total cost of ownership by more than half.

WHEN:

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
10:45 a.m. PDT

WHERE:

2009 O’Reilly Velocity Conference

June 22 – 24, 2009

The Fairmont Hotel
Regency Ballroom
San Jose, Calif.

WHY:

Today's datacenters are reeling from the high costs of power, capital equipment, network connectivity and space, and are hindered by serious performance, scalability and application complexity issues. Technology advances such as multi-core processors, flash memory, and low-latency interconnects, lose their potential as Web 2.0 and cloud computing datacenters are challenged to fully optimize these new component technologies. Web 2.0 and cloud computing enterprises must focus all resources on their core business of providing leading-edge application services. Dr. John Busch will provide insight into why higher level building blocks are needed that can effectively exploit these advanced technologies, and how companies will be able to better solve the problems of power, performance, network connectivity, space and complexity.

Dr. John Busch will be available during the 2009 O’Reilly Velocity Conference for press interviews. To schedule a briefing or a teleconference before or after the event, please contact schooner@schwartz-pr.com, or visit Schooner’s booth, #10, at the show.
