Heinz Board Increases Common Stock Dividend by 2 Cents Resulting in a New Annualized Rate of $1.68 Per Common Share

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The H. J. Heinz Company (NYSE:HNZ) announced today that its Board of Directors declared quarterly dividends on both common and preferred stock.

“This dividend increase reflects the ongoing confidence of management and the Heinz Board of Directors in the future of Heinz and our strategy of returning a high percentage of earnings to Heinz shareholders”

The common stock dividend will be raised from 41.5 cents to 42.0 cents quarterly, for all shareholders of record as of June 24, 2009 payable July 10, 2009. The new annualized dividend is $1.68, which represents an increase of $0.02 versus last year’s dividend. Including today’s announcement, Heinz has increased the dividend almost 56% since being adjusted in Fiscal 2003 for the Del Monte spin-off.

The Board also declared a dividend of 42.5 cents per share on the Company's Third Cumulative Preferred Stock, $1.70 First Series, payable July 1, 2009 to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 24, 2009.
