Business Leader Issues $250,000 Challenge Grant to Inner City Project

LOS ANGELES--()--Gary L. Wilson, a business man and resident of Los Angeles has issued a challenge in the amount of $250,000 to Strive, a non-profit children’s Academic & Arts campus in the Watts community of Los Angeles.

In an uncertain economy, Mr. Wilson’s commitment is an investment of support for the students attending Strive and faith in Strive’s long-term vision for success. This commitment follows two previous challenge grants issued and achieved in 04’ and 06’ for $125,000 and $300,000, respectively. Mr. Wilson’s gift also commemorates the 20th anniversary of Strive’s founding.

Mr. Wilson has been actively involved in Strive’s development for many years. As a Board member and donor, he is committed to combating the academic and social issues that too many children face in the community surrounding Strive. The pledge comes through his private foundation, the Wilson Thornhill Foundation.

Strive provides academic, art & guidance resources to children, youth and their families in the Watts community of Los Angeles. Exalting and sanctuarial, Strive is a safe-haven for inner-city children, too many of whom are navigating thorny & distracting issues in their homes, schools and in the community.
