STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--()--On March 25, the creators of the special TV event Veterans’ Challenge will be in Washington, D.C. to present at the Congressional Task Force Fair on Traumatic Brain Injuries.
“I truly believe that the measure of a country is in how they treat their veterans”
The Veterans’ Challenge aims to honor our military heroes while educating viewers and raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Competitors from all branches of the armed services will engage in a series of athletic events, with winners receiving awards and prizes. Viewers will be drawn in not just by the competition, but also with the engaging, inspirational and often heartbreaking stories these veterans have to tell.
"This is the right cause at the right time is the message we are delivering to potential sponsors of this event,” said Vince Mannino, Chief Business Development Officer for JLS Creative Solutions, LLC. ”We hope to have sponsors on board by mid-April."
Justin Holt will serve as producer and director of the Veterans’ Challenge.
"It is our job to produce a television event that will further rally our country around the heroes that defend our freedom, even after they have served," Holt said. "I can't think of a more important cause at this time in history."
The Veterans’ Challenge team is comprised of an elite team of experts, including:
- Dr. George Zitnay, the founder of the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, and a leading expert on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Dr. Zitnay has developed many of the TBI treatments used today.
- Dr. Rory A. Cooper, distinguished Professor FISA/PVA Chair with the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr. Cooper has developed many of the leading disabled device technologies used today. Dr. Cooper is also a nationally ranked wheelchair athlete.
- Jeremy Feldbusch served with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Iraq, and suffered a penetrating TBI which resulted in the loss of his sight. Jeremy is a national spokesperson for The Wounded Warrior Project.
- Rocky Bleier is a four-time Super Bowl champion and national spokesperson for the National Veteran Owned Business Association (NAVOBA). Bleier is a disabled Vietnam Veteran who has inspired many with his motivational speaking.
Pennsylvania-based JLS Creative Solutions, LLC and American Adventure Sports, LLC have teamed up with these experts to make this innovative event a reality.
Justin Shaner is co-founder of the Veterans’ Challenge and Founder of JLS Creative Solutions, LLC.
"I feel truly blessed to be a part of this opportunity to give our veterans the recognition they deserve," Shaner said. "One of our goals with this event is to create a greater awareness amongst the general public of the treatment options and technological advancements which aid this generation of veterans."
Simultaneous conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have regrettably desensitized the American public to the realities of war. Back home in a country distracted by a poor economy, the heroes of these wars are too often marginalized by society. These veterans face a daily struggle to regain their old lives, often hindered by physical and mental injuries.
Doug Crytzer is co-founder and Executive Producer of the Veterans’ Challenge, as well as a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant whose son Scott is currently serving in Iraq.
"I truly believe that the measure of a country is in how they treat their veterans," Crytzer said. "This event will help elevate them to the place of honor which they have earned and deserve."
