Timesys Announces LinuxLink Support for the Renesas SH7751R and SH7785 Processors

PITTSBURGH & NAGANO, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Timesys Corporation (http://www.timesys.com), a premier provider of embedded Linux software solutions, and Lineo Solutions, Inc. (http://www.lineo.co.jp) today announced LinuxLink support for two Renesas SH4 processors. Taking full advantage of the SH4 architecture, LinuxLink for the SH7751R and SH7785 provides a properly configured 2.6.27 Linux kernel with support for a wide variety of common devices, including Gigabit Ethernet, USB, LCD, SATA and PCI.

Both LinuxLinks were developed in collaboration with a key strategic partner, Lineo Solutions, Inc. Lineo’s abundant knowledge and experience in SH development played a significant role in this initial release and its ongoing support. The collaboration of Lineo and Timesys will be expanded further in the coming months to support additional embedded processors and Linux platform components.

Subscribers can take advantage of the award-winning Timesys Factory to quickly build an embedded Linux platform for the Renesas SH7751R processor and RTS7751R2D reference board or the SH7785 processor and SH7785LCR reference board. As defined by the subscriber, each Factory-built Linux platform will contain a GNU-based cross toolchain, subset of the hundreds of available application-specific root filesystem (RFS) package sources and a suite of commonly used open source development tools, such as GDB, OProfile and mpatrol. Subscribers also will be provided with platform-specific recommendations, advice, technical support and a vast suite of “How to” documentation for common embedded Linux development tasks.
