Fabe's All Natural Bakery® Announces Nationwide Recall of Branded Mini Peanut Butter Cookie Because of Possible Health Risk

SALINAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fabe’s All Natural Bakery is recalling its Mini Peanut Butter Cookie as a precaution because they may contain peanut butter potentially contaminated with Salmonella. No other products under the Fabe’s All Natural Bakery brand are involved in this recall.

This precautionary action was taken as a result of the recently expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) to include all peanut ingredients produced in its Blakely, Georgia facility. This Fabe’s All Natural Mini Peanut Butter Cookie contained peanut butter sourced from the Georgia facility. None of the recalled Fabe’s All Natural Mini Peanut Butter Cookie products have been directly linked to the Salmonella outbreak.

On January 30, Fabe’s All Natural Bakery communicated to the trade a precautionary hold of its Mini Peanut Butter Cookie while the FDA and other authorities investigated the Peanut Corporation of America.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Product Name and Description: Fabe’s All Natural Mini Peanut Butter Cookie; 7oz - UPC # 7 55729 00182 0 and 10 oz – UPC # 7 55729 00055 7; Code Dates 06001-06365, 07001-07365, 08001-08365.

There has been no manufacturing of the product in reference year to date.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should return them to the store where products were purchased for a full refund. No other Fabe’s All Natural Bakery products are affected by the PCA recall.
