CONCORD, Calif.--()--Pacer International, Inc., a leading North American freight transportation and logistics provider, announced the appointment of Robert J. Grassi, 62, to the board of directors effective March 1, 2009. Grassi is a transportation industry veteran with experience as a top management executive and corporate officer. He retired as president and CEO of CSX World Terminals in 2003, and is now a consultant, providing management and financial support for transportation clients.

In addition to his leadership of CSX World Terminals from 1999 until 2003, Grassi held senior management positions with Sea-Land Service, Inc. for 22 years, finally serving as senior vice president and CFO. Prior to his career in the transportation sector, Grassi held financial management positions with major pharmaceutical companies.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs with an MBA from the City University of New York.
