KIRKLAND, Wash.--()--GrapeCity, an international software development firm that recently purchased Data Dynamics, a developer of .NET reporting and business intelligence (BI) tools, today announced the results of a survey it just completed of Data Dynamics customers. The company reports that more than three quarters of survey respondents had highly positive reactions. For example:
“ActiveReports for .NET 3.0 was the most flexible product to deliver reports using our nontraditional method of obtaining data.... The text-based output, as well as the graphics package, is very intuitive. I was able to have a complete report viewable, with graphs, within about 30 minutes of installation.”
- 75% said the .NET reporting features are above average or well above average in their helpfulness to developers.
- 77% said the overall quality of the .NET reporting components is above average or well above average.
- 80% said they are satisfied or highly satisfied with the company and its .NET developer tools.
Respondents’ comments focused on the extreme flexibility of the .NET reporting components, the ease of working with them, and the amount of development time they save. For example, Tom Kashin, a development team lead with Interactive Intelligence, noted that “ActiveReports for .NET 3.0 was the most flexible product to deliver reports using our nontraditional method of obtaining data.... The text-based output, as well as the graphics package, is very intuitive. I was able to have a complete report viewable, with graphs, within about 30 minutes of installation.”
Similarly, Brent Birsa, a software engineer with Media Cybernetics, stated that “Data Dynamics Reports allows my clients with diverse interests the ability to visualize and present their findings without custom software or separate presentation software.... The layout of this presentation is very flexible, allowing arbitrary placement of multiple lists of textual, numeric, chart, and picture data without complex workarounds found in other reporting software.”

Commenting on GrapeCity’s reasons for conducting the survey, Naoyuki Baba, GrapeCity President, said, “Before our purchase of Data Dynamics, we had tested, localized, and supported ActiveReports and other Data Dynamics components in the Japanese market for more than a decade, so we were well aware of the high quality of their products. But we also wanted to hear from Data Dynamics customers, to learn how they feel about the products and what aspects they consider most important. That way, as we invest in growing the worldwide market for ActiveReports and other Data Dynamics components, we can be sure to emphasize the areas that are of most value to our customers.”
