DALLAS--()--Big in Japan, a Dallas-based idea factory for mobile applications, has been named a finalist and presenter at the MobileMonday Mobile Peer Awards, an international competition for mobile startups to take place in Barcelona, Spain, on February 16.
“Win or lose, it will be a great experience.”
Big in Japan, developer of the popular ShopSavvy personal shopping application for the Android-powered T-Mobile G1 phone, is one of three U.S. companies – among 20 companies worldwide – named a finalist. Finalists will present their applications on stage during the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
“This year, the Mobile Peer Awards attracted 163 applicant startups from around the world. To be named a finalist in this field is a significant accomplishment, and we are proud to be presenting in Barcelona,” said Alexander Muse, co-founder of Big in Japan. “Win or lose, it will be a great experience.”
ShopSavvy, a recent finalist for a 2008 Crunchie Award and one of the T-Mobile G1’s most downloaded applications, enables customers to comparison shop on the go, simply by scanning any product’s barcode using the T-Mobile G1’s built-in camera.
Using the barcode information, ShopSavvy searches the Web for the best prices on the product, displaying the lowest prices online as well as at nearby brick-and-mortar retailers. ShopSavvy looks up product reviews to further assist with purchase decisions.
