Laptops and Netbooks Get Expanded Visual Workspace Boost with Samsung SyncMaster D190S with DisplayLink USB Graphics

2009 International CES

PALO ALTO, Calif. & LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Two new Samsung monitors will be making it easy for notebook and netbook consumers to enjoy the entertainment and productivity benefits of an additional display, thanks to integrated USB graphics technology from DisplayLink Corp.

“With its fast, consumer-friendly DisplayLink USB technology, the Samsung SyncMaster is a perfect companion to provide the extra display area that netbooks and notebooks can’t.”

Demonstrated for the first time at 2009 International CES, the new Samsung SyncMaster D190SU and D220SU monitors are designed to easily multiply visual workspace for notebook and netbook users. DisplayLink’s USB graphics hardware and software make it possible for people to connect their portable computer to the Samsung display with the simple snap of a USB connection, providing expanded visual workspace in an instant.

“While people are ever-increasingly using small laptops as their main computer, they still would like the opportunity to have a full desktop experience when working for extended periods of time,” said Dennis Crespo, executive vice president of marketing and business development for DisplayLink. “With its fast, consumer-friendly DisplayLink USB technology, the Samsung SyncMaster is a perfect companion to provide the extra display area that netbooks and notebooks can’t.”

Both SyncMaster configurations – the 19-inch D190SU and 22-inch D220SU will be demonstrated at CES in the USB TechZone in DisplayLink’s booth in South Hall 3, 30368.

About DisplayLink

DisplayLink Corp. (www.displaylink.com) is a chip and software company that modernizes the antiquated way people connect computers and displays – via USB, Ethernet, or over other standard digital networks. Its innovations make it easy to incrementally expand the desktop visual workspace at significantly lower cost and power than traditional solutions. Using universally accepted wired or wireless networking protocols and proprietary software compression techniques, DisplayLink technology can transmit graphically rich content between a single device and multiple displays over a network. Leading global manufacturers have integrated DisplayLink USB graphics – a 2008 PC Magazine Technical Excellence Award winner - into an array of PC accessories including monitors, docking stations, display adapters and projectors.
