Boston-Power Founder and CEO Shares Insights Into Portable Power at CES

Dr. Christina Lampe-Önnerud Joins Panel Discussion and Hosts CntrStg Session To Discuss Next-Generation Battery Technology

2009 International CES

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boston-Power, Inc., the rapidly growing provider of Lithium-ion batteries that redefine portable power, today announced that Founder and CEO Dr. Christina Lampe-Önnerud is participating in the 2009 International CES conference being held this week in Las Vegas.

Among the world’s foremost authorities in battery technology, Dr. Lampe-Önnerud will join panelists to discuss Better Batteries and a Greener Charger. Featured on the CES Technology and the Environment track, the session will be held on Thursday, January 8, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. PST at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) North Hall in Room N254.

Later that day, as part of CntrStg, Dr. Lampe-Önnerud will host a one-hour discussion with the blogging community titled Better Batteries – The Next Generation of Li-Ion Technology. She will share her thoughts and encourage an interactive dialog about where battery technology stands today, where it needs to be tomorrow and what the future holds. The session is scheduled for January 8, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. PST at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Sponsored by HP, CntrStg is designed to assist bloggers in their efforts to spotlight industry experts, business leaders and important innovations. Boston-Power is cosponsoring CntrStg, along with other companies that include Advanced Micro Devices, American Airlines and Microsoft Corporation.

Last month, Boston-Power announced that its next-generation Lithium-ion battery cell, Sonata®, will be available first to HP customers as an upgrade option. The result of a three-year relationship between Boston-Power and HP, the announcement underscores the companies’ shared commitment to fueling innovation in battery technology while bringing notebook PC users products that exemplify a respect for the environment. Consumers will be able to purchase the optional HP notebook batteries with Sonata technology for use with select HP consumer notebook PCs in early 2009. In addition to setting a new benchmark in notebook PC battery technology, HP Enviro Series program notebook batteries with Sonata technology will come with a three-year warranty – the longest battery warranty available from any notebook PC provider.
